Young people in Lambeth set us a challenge...

We set up the programme in Lambeth after young people on Stockwell's Landsdowne Green Estate approached us for help. We listened to their concerns on opportunities, jobs, emerging gang culture and low aspirations. It's a tough environment; 10% are not in employment, education or training (NEET). They've big challenges getting jobs and avoiding gang crime.

Case study: Jamie's story

Fresh-Visions-2.jpgamie, was 17 years old and NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training). He'd been asked to leave college and was known to the police for involvement in a gang. The scale of his offences was escalating. He lacked support systems and believed he was losing control of the direction his life was taking. At Motiv8 Lambeth he was matched with a youth mentor who worked with him on a one to one basis over a period of eight months. During this time they mapped out the options and life choices he could take. He got back control of his life.

Overcoming set backs, Jamie secured a paid plumbing apprenticeship. He's extremely happy and working hard to progress in the company.

He now has a five year plan to become a fully qualified plumber and be self employed. Jamie is still involved with the Motiv8 project. He wants to inspire others so they too can find a direction, work hard and fulfil their potential.

With your help we can support more disadvantaged young people like Jamie regain control of their lives and have a bright future.
